The trials and tribulations we encounter in Online Classes

It's been a year and a half or so since the COVID-19 pandemic started, and this has to a great degree necessitated the use of online classes. Now lads and lasses lets get real for a moment here, online classes are probably the least seriously taken things in the world. Most of us are guilty of that and if you are so virtuous so as to actually be sincere throughout the whole thing...you're weird T_T . Online classes are exceedingly easy to slack off in, the teacher's relative unease in using technology from anywhere past 2005 coupled with the student's increasing capability to circumvent said classes contribute to this. This is where the underestimation of teenagers and children in general really starts to bite the teaching staff in the back.  I've heard tales, legends even, of mythical crusaders who have gone semesters without ever actually showing their face or speaking a word. Teachers can't really do much other than threaten to complain to the parents and thi...

Ghosting

First off let's address the elephant in the room, where was I all these days? Did I die? Have I finally succumbed to my sociopathic tendencies? De nad a, fact is that 12th grade happened to me. 12th grade is hectic to say the least, you're just running around putting out one fire after another. All the work does however have some effect of taking your mind off of your problems, well up until you realise that all your problems are being caused by said work. It's ironic that I  choose to write about the oh-so-wonderful topic that is ghosting, after ghosting my blog for a while now. I sincerely offer my apologies to everyone who looked forward to my next post like a son waiting for their dad to return with that carton of milk.  Well son I'm back! It took me a while because, uhhh the store was on fire but regardless I'm back! Now that we addressed that, let's move on to the actual topic on hand. Ghosting(oooooooooo spooky). We'll have to examine the very definit...

Where did we go wrong?

Disclaimer: This is a particularly big rant of mine so be prepared to read some ill articulated verses about how I hate everything. Oh yeah also I'm not making generalizations but there is enough of a sample size that such a post can be made. Reader discretion is advised yada yada Society says that we are supposed to have a cordial daily relationship with our neighbours so that we may aid them in their time of need and vice versa. While I don't disagree with the idea I probably won't keep my end of the bargain and will most likely minimize my interaction with my neighbours in the first place. The reason for this? Well two reasons actually, The first is my social awkwardness making me completely useless and reducing me to a bumbling baboon of sorts. Second would be the fact that Indian Neighbours have given me the most sour taste about neighbours in general. The bible says, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself". For the the uninitiated in English used in older...

The Oscars and their blatant disregard for animation

Image
I know,I know there's another four months to the Oscars but a video on the same topic by Mother's Basement(that I watched recently) and a discussion by some of my friends spurred me on to make this blogpost. The Oscars are considered to be the most prestigious awards that someone working in the film industry can get get, at least that's the feeling it gives off. It gives some much needed boosts to films that are critically accomplished but don't have much in the mode of popularity. Bong Joon Ho's masterpiece Parasite won the Best Picture award last year. Indeed Parasite deserved its win as it was in a league of its own. The Oscar's aren't the most squeaky clean awards out there. The Academy Awards being won by basically throwing money at the voters is an open secret at this point. Campaigners are on par with politicians now, expensive gifts are given, celebrity meet-ups, all sorts of things are done to make the voters vote for a certain nominee.  However I...

2020: What a year eh?

Image
Today is the 31st of December and we sit at the cusp of a new year and a new decade, its funny to think that 2020 breezed by in a such a flurry. One day we'll probably  tell grand tales of those days when we... sat at home, watched netflix and gained 70 pounds... I suppose they won't be grand tales after all. As I read and talk with other people I hear more and more about how 2020 was the worst year of all time or something to that effect. I would consider it to be quite the contrary actually, chiefly due to two points. First of all, the worst year wasn't 2020,it was AD 536. People had to face a volcano eruption(the worst of all time) which caused an incredible amount of ash to descend reducing visibility to tuppence, seasons merged, temperatures dropped ,crops wilted and died. This also set the stage for the outbreak of the bubonic plague in AD 541 which, well... wasn't exactly pleasant. Fancy having this bloke come to treat your incessant coughing and diarrhea? Second...

Carolers and Catastrophe

Image
First thing's first Merry Christmas y'all, this year went by in a flash but we'll talk about that at new year's(Need to save the sentimental stuff for then). You guys ever see a little ole' movie called "The Grinch?" Well since there are two versions I should be more specific of which version I'm talking about but in reality both of them follow essentially the same idea. Green tall guy-hates christmas-wants to ruin christmas for everyone else-decides to engage in ridiculous yet strangely successful plan for the same-sees the innocence of some random kid(who probably mispelt Santa as Satan) and decides to be good and embrace the spirit of Christmas. The movies are based off the original books by Dr Seuss. Its one of those classics that most people seem to watch during Christmas season. I could get along with this guy Now when I said that the Grinch hates all things Christmas related naturally pesky carolers are also included, and this is where I feel a ...

The Pied Piper of 7-A

Image
Yeah that's right two posts in a row!  The title might intrigue you eh? Well I shall of course explain, I studied in a pretty good school in Doha,Qatar for quite a while, indeed I was sad to leave said school when I finally had to move back home but I still do cherish the memories. One of those memories I fondly remember was when I started a REVOLUTION IN MY CLASS.   Okay I'm being a bit too melodramatic but let me explain. Now back in my old school we had these "Value Education" periods, the idea was to guide children morally to become good, upstanding citizens of modern society. Slight problem though, it was incredibly boring to sit through and for the most part we would just goof off maybe complete some pending work(very rare) or, god forbid it... a teacher would sub in to take some "pending" portions -_- We'd have a text which we'd read through with stories with some sort of moral in them, and we were supposed to read these drab stories and become...
